Ayloss (Spectral Lore, Mystras, A Compendium of Curiosities) and frequent collaborator Spider of Pnyx introduce a new entity called Under A Banner Black As Blood by blending their styles, based on grand orchestral samples and lo-fi analogue synths and real percussion respectively, in a militant symphony of peasant sieges upon noble strongholds and forgotten skirmishes, as an allegory to modern struggles people face nowadays. Equal parts ambient darkness and medieval aggression, there is a wide breadth of influences that merge into the resulting sound, starting from a foundation of dark dungeon synth and militant ambient to branch out even to 70's electro-ambient or kraut. Under A Banner Black As Blood aim to show that the escapism inherent in such genres can be subverted to serve a purpose.
